My TBR List August Vote

Thank you to  Michelle @ Because Reading's for hosting! I like to have themes for my TBR list votes, mainly because otherwise I have no idea how else I'd choose which books to go with! So this month I searched "snow" on my Netgalley shelf to see what came up, and picked three books from the surprisingly long list that gave me! Unsuprisingly I've ended up with three different Snow White retellings, one fantasy, one sci-fi and one urban fantasy!

Title: The Duke of Snow and Apples
Author: Elizabeth Vail
From: Netgalley
Genre: Fantasy, Fairy Tale Retelling

Release Date: 26th August 2014
Links: Goodreads
Synopsis:
Frederick Snow, first footman, is the perfect servant: efficient, hardworking, and completely bereft of emotion. Unbeknownst to his employers, he's the lost Duke of Snowmont, on the run from a suspicious stepfather and a powerful magic he can only control by burying his passions beneath his frosty demeanor. He's managed to hide behind his carefully ordered life until an impertinent miss arrives and challenges everything he thought he wanted.

If Charlotte Erlwood wants to land a wealthy, titled husband at her great aunt's house party, she has to stop losing her temper – especially with inordinately handsome footmen. Perhaps if she recruits Frederick for her matrimonial schemes, she'll be able to direct her attention toward suitable single noblemen and away from inappropriate dalliances. But Frederick's frigid control is no match for Charlotte's irrepressible spirit, and her passionate kiss could summon the darker side of his magic...or wake his heart from its frozen sleep.

Title: Stitching Snow
Author: RC Lewis
From: Netgalley
Genre: Fairy Tale Retelling, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Release Date: 14th October 2014

Synopsis:
Princess Snow is missing.

Her home planet is filled with violence and corruption at the hands of King Matthias and his wife as they attempt to punish her captors. The king will stop at nothing to get his beloved daughter back—but that’s assuming she wants to return at all.

Essie has grown used to being cold. Temperatures on the planet Thanda are always sub-zero, and she fills her days with coding and repairs for the seven loyal drones that run the local mines.

When a mysterious young man named Dane crash-lands near her home, Essie agrees to help the pilot repair his ship. But soon she realizes that Dane’s arrival was far from accidental, and she’s pulled into the heart of a war she’s risked everything to avoid. With the galaxy’s future—and her own—in jeopardy, Essie must choose who to trust in a fiery fight for survival.

Previous Reviews from tdir: The Hunt for Snow (#1)
Author: S E Babin
From: Netgalley
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Fairy Tale Retelling
Release Date: 7th March 2016

Synopsis: Trapped on Earth thanks to Snow’s wicked stepmother, the gang is going stir crazy. Just when they think they can’t catch a break, Rumple shows up and offers his assistance. But everyone knows Rumple isn’t the altruistic sort. Suspicious, but out of ideas, Snow accepts his offer of help to get back home, only to find herself face to face with Max, her once upon a time lover. And he no longer looks so friendly.

Thrust headfirst into danger and betrayal, Snow and the gang will have to form unlikely alliances with ancient enemies in order to take down Naomi. But that isn’t all. Naomi has closed the portals with magic, trapping them, and choking off access to all the different realms, leaving Snow's people destitute.

This is the moment when Snow will have to embrace her unknown powers in order to break the powerful spell cast upon the realms. Who can she trust when everything she knows changes? Sometimes fairytales don’t have happy endings. Snow is hell-bent on making sure this one does.
