At 18 all Adira wants is her brother's best friend, Pike, and though he wants her too he knows that if he does he'll claim her as his own forever. 10 years later and Pike still yearns for the woman that he sees as his, but when an attractive woman turns up to become a part of the League of the Unnatural he finds himself instantly drawn to her, little realising that Adira has just returned...

Pike's Peak is a quick read, one that focuses on very few characters but still provides a fair bit of world building. Sometimes I do wonder how that is possible and yet Roth seems to make it work! (Though this could be due to the fact that I've read several of Roth's books and so know what to look for). The balance between the various character relationships and the action was defintiely there.

I loved the interactions that surrounded Adam. He had a natural reaction to the idea of his baby sister with anyone and I really felt that he cared for her. Honestly I'd react the same if anyone tried to be with my younger brothers that I didn't feel was suitable. Well except that I have no super powers!

Adira was actually a pretty kick ass character herself. Not only did she know exactly what she wanted and go for it, but she also got some good action scenes going on, proving that women are just as good as men at beating the bad guys!

Pike's Peak was the perfect filler book, something that was quick and easy to read while having substance to it!
