Blog Tour: Board Stiff by Jessica Jayne

I received a copy of Board Stiff in exchange for my review.

As a member of the board of Advantage Insurance, John is happy in his life, since his fiancée left he's been avoiding commitment and only ever took up with a woman for the night. Until Elizabeth entered the board room. As a legal advisor to the company, Elizabeth has to tell the board about a payout that may need to be made, and in doing so she notices John. Knowing she can't look at him otherwise she'll get distracted she is fine; until John turns up in her office. The passion between the two of them can't be denied, and nor can the obvious connection they share.

Board Stiff is a quick read, though there's no doubt that there could be more to the story, it was enjoyable as a quick and sexy read. I had a lot of good first reactions to the story, and the ending didn't disappoint, as well as (thankfully) not containing any clichéd 'I love yous' (which I have a bit of an issue with happening, so the absense is good).

Good reaction point 1: Elizabeth. Though this is a short story there was a definite sense that Elizabeth is her own woman and wouldn't let anyone tell her otherwise. She worked for her career and owned the presentation that she did. More than that, she didn't seem obsessed by her looks (and actually John didn't seem to be too obssessed with them either beyond noting that he found her attractive) and that was a refreshing change.

Good reaction point 2: John. He wasn't quite an alpha male I don't think. Though he was determined and went out to get what he wanted. He also didn't actually come across as too arrogant or conceited and I liked that about him. Plus he could cook...instant points in my book!

And...good reaction point 3: Their relationship. There weren't many stages too it because the book was short. However there was good banter towards each other and I felt that their relationship was on a level playing field for both sides. They both took and both gave and worked well together.

I enjoyed Board Stiff for what it was, though it could have been even better with knowing what happened to the two characters next!

John Dorsey’s life is good. He is the owner of Dorsey Construction. He’s the youngest person on the board of directors for Advantage Insurance Company. He lives on the beach. And he knows he can have any woman he wants. John’s got the world at his fingertips… except he’s yet to find a woman that stimulates both his body and mind.

Elizabeth Wright worked hard in a large Tampa law firm making a name for herself, but it came at the expense of her personal life. When Advantage Insurance Company offers her a job as corporate counsel, Elizabeth cannot turn it down. The thought that she can have a successful legal career and a life excites and intimidates her.

But when their worlds collide one day in the Advantage board room, neither Elizabeth nor John knows what’s hit them. All they know is they can’t stay away from each other.

After his divorce, Greg Snow dedicated his life to his work as a corporate attorney in a large law firm and as a member of the board of directors of Advantage Insurance Company. He liked it that way… at least that’s what he thought until Tessa Mills entered his life.

Growing up with an alcoholic mother and never knowing her father, Tessa Mills has not had an easy life. And her relationship decisions have been less than stellar. But she’s finally making a life for herself and running her own business – a yoga studio. It’s her saving grace and that’s all she needs… until Greg Snow turns her world upside down.

Tessa and Greg have a strong attraction, but is it enough to overcome all their differences?

About the Author:
I am a born and raised small town Ohio girl, who moved to the Sunshine State after graduating from college. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English. What college major could possibly be better than one that requires you to read novels and write about them!  After spending a year traveling, I attended law school and use that knowledge wisely. In the journey of life, became a wife and a mother of three children. So, life is always an adventure.

I love to read and write... obviously! I’m a huge sports fan, especially college football and the Ohio State Buckeyes!  Go Steelers!  Go Rays! Go Lightning! I LOVE to travel... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel. And I love sharing my love to travel with my children. Did I say I love to travel? I love to drink coffee in the morning and tea at night! I love a good glass of wine, especially if it comes from a bottle made by the FOOLS wine club… yep, I’m a founding member of that crazy group!  ☺

I love hanging out with my family and my friends!  Music makes me happy. I’m a mix between country girl and city chic. But I love nothing more than putting on my jean shorts, tank top, cowboy boots and hat and watching Tim McGraw or Eric Church belt it out!  I’m a sucker for a cowboy hat!
