Book: Dead Girl by Pavarti K Tyler

I received a copy of Dead Girl in exchange for my review.

Best friends Jack and Kauff go to their place and discover that there is a woman there. Intrigued as to who she is, the pair examine the woman and find evidence that says she's dead, as well as evidence that says she's not. Unsure what to do with her the pair are captivated by her body. Delphei wakes up with the sunset, though it is a gradual process, and she can feel what the two friends are doing to her and hoping that they don't stop. Delphei enjoys the fact that for once in her life, she isn't the one in control, or the one being hunted.

I wasn't all that sure what to expect with Dead Girl, but I've read books by Tyler before and enjoyed them so thought I'd give it a go. What you get with Dead Girl is a paranormal erotic short story, though it has a difference from anything else remotely similar that I've read before.

Instead of the vampire being in control, this is a story where the vampire is the victim (well kind of) and I thought that that certainly added another level. I don't think I've ever encountered a book where a vampire was being physically victimised by weaponless humans, so originalit was definitely good.

The characters in Dead Girl all seemed to have some questionable morals, particularly Kauff actually, though Delphei was more of your traditional vampire, she wanted food and sex, rather than the romantic kind of vampire (which made me like her more) which kind of makes it a bit excusable for her as a character. Because of the length of the story, there wasn't much time for character developement, so having that character trait straight off worked.

If you're looking for a Halloween read that isn't going to scare you, and that has a little spice and a little difference to it, then I would definitely recommend Dead Girl.
