Blog Tour: Her Perfect Game by Shannyn Schroeder

I received a copy of Her Perfect Game in exchange for my review.

Charlie is a gamer, escaping her life into an RPG to meet with her virtual friend, Win. But she needs to find a job, something that will keep her going now that she's left school; and to do that she needs to compete at Hackfest. Knowing there will be scouts there she sets out to win, what she doesn't set out to do is to run back into the one man she's never been able to forget; Jonah. Jonah regrets leaving Charlie all those years ago, but now he's seen her again he's determined to keep her. Though Jonah has a secret, not only did he create Charie's favourite RPG, but he is Win, and has been keeping an eye on her for the past year in the virtual world. Can they beat the odds and stay together this time?

Her Perfect Game was a fun read, which was definitely what I needed when I read it. Though the characters did have some problems with their relationship, none of those problems were insurmountable, and you could see that they would work them out without too much effort. Which is precisely what the book needed to be in my  opinion.

I was interested to see how the descripter of the RPG worked. Instead of the actions of the gamer being described, it was the actions of the RPG character. I thought this worked brilliantly and wouldn't have been as good had the gamer's actions been the ones being described. Though there were times when I had to remind myself that it was a game!

I also really liked the fact that there wasn't too much technical language used in Her Perfect Game. I could understand what was going on without needing to understand computers or hacking terms, and that increased my enjoyment of the book.

I really enjoyed Her Perfect Game, and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

 Summary from Goodreads:
Spring break is supposed to be a week of fun in the sun for three childhood friends about to graduate from college. But one of them is ready to get her game on somewhere else…

Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn't quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she's entering a "hackfest" over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who's been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can't fight the desire that comes rushing back.

Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they're face to face again, he doesn't know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he's offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever?

About the Author
Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.
After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”

So she did.
