Blog Tour: Binary Witness by Rosie Claverton

I received a copy of Binary Witness in exchange for my review.

Jason has got his first job since prison, which has led him to clean the home of the introverted Amy Lane. A computer genius and police aide, Amy doesn't leave the house, and it seems that she doesn't really know how to take care of herself. Almost immediately Jason finds himself wanting to look after Amy and do more for her than just clean her home, and when the police come asking her to help them solve a murder he gets dragged into being her assistant. With three dead bodies the chase heats up, but though the team get close they don't quite know enough to catch him...

That was such a good read! I barely wanted to put it down. The way that the author chose to do the narration really worked as well, there was often third person narrative about Amy, Jason and Police Detective Bryn, but there was also narrative about the murder victims (by name) and following the murderer, though his name was never revealed.

As the story progressed more and more information came out about the murderer and the murders, and yet I couldn't (and didn't) work out who it was that was committing them. It was definitely one of those books where it all makes sense once you find out the truth, but up until that point there was no clue about it. This more than anything kept me reading when I really should have been sleeping.

The relationship between Amy and Jason was interesting. At no point did they dislike each other, and in fact they seemed quite comfortable with each other right from the start. What I liked about their relationship was that they were both protective of each other but in a different way, which added to their characters and has me interested to see where it is going. At the moment they are friends, whether Amy realises it or not, but I think there is something there between them.

I also liked the way that the working relationship between Jason and Bryn worked. Considering that there was a mistrust to start with (as I guess there would be between an ex-con and a police detective) they worked through that and I really believed the respect that they gained for each other.

I really enjoyed this book, the mystery and the characters were both engaging and I can't wait to see where this goes!
