Blog Tour: Cephrael's Hand by Melissa McPhail

I received a copy of Cephrael's Hand in exchange for my review.

The realm of Alordin is dying after the disastrous Adept wars, causing the Adepts to die out with it. Brandished at the end of the Adept Wars, Bjorn knows that he is one of the only people who can turn it around and save the world. As the last heir of the Eagle throne, Ean has a difficult path in front of him, particularly with his own life at risk and things happening around him that he doesn't understand. Having washed up in an unknown land and lacking his memories...and he sets off on a journey to discover who he is.

Cephrael's Hand is a fantasy and a half. With a detailed world along with an interesting cast of characters and a magic system that is both imaginative and detailed. Word of warning though, this is the kind of book that you really have to stick your teeth into, rather than just a quick read, which is perfect if that's what you're after I might add!

I think this may have been due to the fact that this is a book that you really have to get your teeth into, but I couldn't help but feel that it took me a while to get into the book. I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, I could tell from the off that this was a book I'd enjoy and that it was well written. It was simply because there was the need to pay attention I think (which I was in the mood for I might add).

There were a lot of characters in Cephrael's Hand, which is a good thing, particularly as many of the secondary characters got development, which was fantastic I don't think that they actually get enough of in books today, and it really helped me engage with the book.

The mythology and the magic system in Cephrael's Hand were both intricate and interesting. The author clearly had a view in her head and executed it wonderfully, and even better she actually included a table of definitions which really helped.

As I mentioned there was a lot going on in Cephrael's Hand and its a book you need to pay attention to, but it is also a fantastic read and well worth the read!
