Book: Glitter & Doom by Bethany Griffin

Glitter & Doom is book 1.5 of Masque of the Red Death.

April, niece of Prospero, lives in a diseased world where appearing pretty and beautiful is a way of keeping safe. April uses it to her advantage hiding how smart and resourceful she really is. Glitter & Doom tells of the events which occurred to April when she disappeared, kidnapped by Malcontent, and the burgeoning relationship between her and inventor Kent.

This is a book that I have wanted to read for absolutely ages, but wouldn't load onto my kindle when I bought it, thankfully managed to get it on my phone so I could finally read it!

Glitter & Doom answers a lot of questions, the big one really being where April and Kent's relationship came from, because in the two novels it appears as if from nowhere (which does make sense in them because of Araby's first person narrative.)

It was also really interesting to see some of the events that led to April and Elliot turning out as they did, particularly April's tendency to appear superficial, though especially in Glitter & Doom it becomes apparent that it is simply an appearance, which adds far more substance to April's character.

This is only a quick read, but to anyone that has read the two novels you should definitely read it, it fills in some gaps and adds to the story!
