Blog Tour & Giveaway: Whole Latte Love by Rachelle Ayala

I received a copy of Whole Latte Love in exchange for my review.

Carina is starting an internship at an investment bank, and is determined that she will work hard and not be distracted by anything as simple as a guy. But moving in with Dylan Jewell puts a spanner in that works. Dylan is smart, funny and attractive, though in a rock band and working as a barista for no reason other than he wanted to. Carina can't stop her attraction towards him, and it is made even more difficult when he admits to being attracted to her too. However, Carina's boss, Rebecca, has a past with Dylan, and Dylan's father has now told her that unless she gets Dylan to come back to the family company she will be forced to get a pre-nup, and Rebecca decides that the easiest way to get to Dylan is through Carina.

I loved Whole Latte Love! The story was definitely a romance, though there were other elements thrown in. Both of the characters were intelligent, and acted upon that intelligence, and yet at the same time they could be absolute idiots. I lost track of the amount of times I was mentally telling them they were being stupid, particularly Carina in her interactions with Rebecca.

One of the main themes that seemed to run through the book was that of the characters doing what would make them happy in their lives regardless of how much that would pay, or how unconventional that would be. For example, Dylan had a degree, and could have worked in finance, but didn't because he didn't want to. I thought that this really struck a cord with me (just finished uni and deciding what to do etc.)

One thing that I was surprised didn't annoy me was that Carina was a virgin and didn't seem to have any problems in the bedroom department (well apart from getting there). Normally virgins that turn into sex goddesses straight off really annoy me, but somehow Carina being that actually fit with the story and didn't annoy me in the slightest.

I've read one of Ayala's romances before (Taming Romeo) and after reading Whole Latte Love I would definitely read another one! Also, the point where the title of the book clicks is so cute!

Investment banking intern Carina Chen doesn’t need any distractions - especially the sexy, guitar-playing barista she rooms with for the summer.
Free spirit Dylan Jewell appreciates the delightful universe of women who vie for his attention. His goal in life is to do good, make happy coffee, and help the homeless.
When Carina moves in, she insists on rules of conduct to quell her instant attraction to Dylan. But when her boss asks her to turn Dylan into a businessman, she can’t think of a reason not to take advantage of his hospitality.
Their chemistry is white hot, but Dylan refuses to play Carina’s game, unable to understand how he can fall in love with a woman who puts profits in front of people. When Carina realizes Dylan isn’t budging, she risks all to gain a single night with him. Will her gambit backfire or will Dylan discover Carina’s true heart before she runs away with his?
Set in Berkeley, California, Whole Latte Love is an opposites-attract romance mixing bluesy rock music, hot, steamy love scenes, and financial shenanigans.
