Blog Tour & Giveaway: Love This Life by Theresa Troutman

I received a copy of Love This Life, the sequel to Life's What You Make It in exchange for my review.

Despite the somewhat difficult start to their relationship, Sebastian and Tess have started their time at NYU in a strong place, living together and engaged. That is until Tess meets Dan, a man in some of her other classes, and is inexplicably attracted to him. Tess knows that she loves Sebastian, and Sebastian knows that she loves him, and yet he can't help but wonder if she will resent him if he doesn't let her explore this new infatuation that she has. But the two of them need to learn together to make them work or it will just tear them apart.

I mentioned in my previous review that I thought Life's What You Make It reminded me of Brideshead Revisited and I'm mentioning it again for the simple reason that Love This Life differed majorly in tone. Whereas before it was a party boys redemption, this book more launched into the romance straight away, and there was certainly a more romantic feel about the writing. I'm not really sure that I have the words to describe it (which is probably bad as a reviewer) but its strange how a continuation can have such a different feel.

There were also some funny moments in this book, or maybe not quite funny but a bit of banter, such as the kitchen counter scene...definitely didn't see that one coming, nor did I see Tess' insistence to clean the work surface down coming. It was little moments like that, and the every day occurrences, that made the book seem like a real story.

The issues that were concentrated on, most namely Tess being attracted to another man, though also more minor issues such as Tess having a job and contributing to the upkeep and running of their lives seemed to ring true with a lot of new couple experiences, yet again one of the things that made this book have a more real feeling.

Both Life Is What You Make It and Love This Life were enjoyable reads, though I am not too sure that they are the style that I normally/would normally go for.
