Samantha is on the run from her past and her present when her bike runs out of petrol and she meets Ethan, a man who claims that he is the big bad wolf. Nicknaming her Red because of her red leather jacket, Ethan takes her to the cabin used by himself and his sister before her death. Much to their surprises, Ethan and Red open up to each other in a way that they never open up to anyone and one thing leads to another and a moment of passion will change both of their lives forever.
I couldn't put Little Red down, its one of those that fairy tale re-tellings that was both original and engaging and like nothing I've read before. I particularly liked the twist on the wolf in Red Riding Hood, where the cursed men weren't actual wolves, or shape shifters, but their moods and 'rage' were controlled by the moon. It was such a well thought out and developed making Little Red different.
Something that I did find a little strange at first was the fact that Samantha didn't actually go by Samantha after the first couple of chapters, instead she went by Red. That means that the link to Little Red Riding Hood was always close to the forefront, and also made it clear who was being talked about. Linked to that was the switching point of views, between Ethan and Red. That gave insight both into the rage and the other things that go on in the story.
I'm reluctant to go into many more details because of the potential spoilers it could give, particularly as the story took several turns that I didn't expect, but also in some cases important parts of the story were resolved before another problem occurred. In a couple of places I thought that was a little unnecessary, but in the end I thought it all worked well.
I enjoyed Little Red a lot and definitely want to read more of the Parker brothers!
