Blog Tour: The Temporary Promise by Bonnie Dee

I received a copy of The Temporary Promise in exchange for my review.

10 years ago, Tara had a crush on her best friend's brother, Luis, and acted on it only to be pushed away for being too young (they were 15 and 18). Now Tara has been in love but nothing long lasting and is currently in a friends with benefits situation with Dre. But when her car breaks down she encounters Luis once more, and the chemistry that they shared a decade ago is still there, except now they want to act upon it. Their relationship has some major hurdles to overcome though, being Tara's commitaphobe attitude, Luis' experiences in the army, and the fact that they both care deeply about Graci's reaction to their relationship.

Firstly, how cute is the cover! So often romance books have covers of couples undressing each other or in some other version of embracing, and yet this is just the couple smiling and laughing, which really sums up the book, as well as being cute.

Though there is the slight cliché of the romance with the best friend's brother, I didn't really feel it too much with Tara and Luis. Mainly because the relationship between them was a friendship first, and you even saw them interacting together in the first book (and in that scene I guessed that the next book was about them!) There was so much banter between the two of them, and often it was innuendo banter, that I couldn't help but laugh slightly at the two of them!

You do get to see more interaction between the friendship group in this book too, particularly as some of the bridges have been fixed between the girls, and as I pointed out in my review of The Seduction Vow, it is good to see friends talking about things other than their romances and about sex.

Talking of sex, there is some sex in the book, and more sex than there was in The Seduction Vow (because Tara doesn't need to lose her virginity mainly) but it still wasn't the focus of the story. Instead that was on the romance of two people getting lost in each other and healing each other's pain.

I've only read two books in this series so far, and already I'm hooked! The characters feel so real and really draw you into their world! I just want to read more!

Soon Tara is taking more than career risks as she plunges headlong into a steamy relationship with the guy she crushed on as a teenager. But war veteran Luis has issues of his own, and Tara doesn’t know if either of them is ready to handle anything serious—even as her heart is falling deeper in love.

Is it possible that the man of her dreams has been right in front of her all this time?

Adya Parish has been a drifter for too long. She vows to take back control and not rely on any man to keep her. Piecing together a new life requires time spent alone or with friends—not with the sweet man, his adorable daughter and crazy dog that careen into her life. But with one chance meeting in the park, Adya begins to find the family she has always longed for. It will take real strength of will to refuse to fall for them and continue to stand alone for the first time in her life.

The Wedding Affirmation Promise Series, Book 5 Coming Soon!

Bree’s wedding to Tony, the man she truly loves, has almost arrived. But first it’s time for a bachelorette weekend with the best friends from her youth, Graci, Tara, Corinne and Adya. Considered the wild one of the group back in the day, Bree hardly seems a candidate to be first down the aisle. She feels driven to have one last crazy fling and, as the weekend progresses, she begins to panic about making her wedding vows. It takes the considerable will power and support of her friends to set Bree back on the course to love.
about author
Bonnie Dee began telling stories as a child. Whenever there was a sleepover, she was the designated ghost tale teller, guaranteed to frighten and thrill with macabre tales. She still has a story printed on yellow legal paper in second grade about a ghost, a witch and a talking cat. Writing childish stories for her own pleasure led to majoring in English at college. Like most English majors, she dreamed of writing a novel, but didn't have the necessary focus and follow through at that time in her life. A husband, children and work occupied the next twenty years and it was only in 2000 that she began writing again. Bonnie enjoys reading stories about people damaged by life who find healing with a like-minded soul. When she couldn't find enough books to suit her taste, she began to write them.
