Blog Tour & Giveaway: Communion by B Patterson

I received a copy of Communion in exchange for my review as a part of this blog tour.

Lester has always been a loner, and the victim of a bully, Jay. Then one day everything changes, he becomes stronger, and eventually becomes friends with Roman, Gwyn and Brent, an exclusive gang at school. But not all is as it seems, and even coming into his new powers, there are darker forces at work.

I don't really know what to say about Communion, I enjoyed it but it didn't have the certain je ne sais quoi that would make is fantastic. The mythos behind the characters and the dhamphir was good, but the depth of the characters was lacking at some points.

As I said I enjoyed it, though this did have the disadvantage of having a male first person narrative (which is only a disadvantage for me, as I've mentioned before I prefer characters I can relate to authomatically, making female characters easier for me to relate to.

Though at times Communion could be slow in getting to the action, once it got there the scenes were action packed and fast paced, the author definitely got the right balance between the action and the description of it.

I enjoyed Communion, it wasn't my favourite book ever, but an enjoyable read, particularly if you enjoy paranormal fiction which is a little bit different.
